Attention Senior Girls! The deadline for the Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Scholarship is almost here. Complete the online-application and transcript request by this Friday. All senior girls are encouraged to apply! Attention Golfers, the Houston Golf Association is offering six (6) $25,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in the Houston area. The categories are: General Studies, Technical Studies, Engineering & Geosciences and the Randy Arnaud Memorial Junior Golf Scholarship. Seniors! Baseball tryouts will be held January 29th, January 30th, and February 1st. Project Linus Meeting

There will be a project Linus meeting this Friday, Dec. 11th, and Next Monday, Dec. 15th. Please bring new toys for the Project Linus Toy Drive benefiting Memorial Hermann Memorial City; pediatric ward. They need toys for teens, infants and PG Movies. The drive ends next Wednesday. Bring toys to room 2209, (Mrs. Self's room).

Sanata knows that many people in Houston who do not have necessary items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, and he needs our help! Santa dropped off "Christmas for the Homeless" boxes in front of the school and needs us to fill them with toiletries to help him bring Joy to the World. Help Santa and Help the Homeless!

Help out the Homeless

Every year as the majority of us celebrate the holidays, the homeless people of America must suffer through harsh winters, enduring the cold and doing what they can to survive. Help ease this pain by donating toietries at the front of the school. Items such as socks, water bottles, heat pads and hand warmers, tissues, cough drops, and more are greatly appreciated. This year, choose to share your holiday cheer and joy with those who cannot afford to do so.

Please help Boys Basketball provide a Merry Christmas for all local boys and girls by donating a new unwrapped toy to their Toys for Tots Drive. Students can bring a toy to the December 8th home game and get into the game for free. You can also donate your toy in the AP ofice or the athletic seacretary's office from now until December 8th. There are nine scholarships in the amount of $18,000 each. Seniors, do not miss out on this amazing opportunity. Participation in FFA and AG is NOT required! Information is available in the Registrar Office. •The University of North Texas will be here today during all lunches. If you are interested in STEM, Aviation, or Business, then UNT could be the school for you. If you have applied to UNT or want to learn more about the university, then why not take advantage of this opportunity to meet your admissions counselor. •The CFISD Career Options Fair is tonight at the Berry Center. Parents and students in grades 6-12 are invited to browse the Career Fair to learn about the Career and Technology programs, certifications, and electives, available in CFISD. •The Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Foundation is offering a $1,000 scholarship to African-American seniors who are graduating from CFISD.

SPRING DUAL CREDIT CLASS

Students that are taking a SPRING DUAL CREDIT CLASS: you should have received a reminder call from Lone Star this week for payment of your courses. However, PLEASE make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you are not sure, please stop by the counseling office to discuss. If you are taking 1 course, the price is about $66. If you are taking 2 courses, it is around $120. If your amount is higher, please wait until December 7th to pay!

Key Club's Karaoke Night

Do you know that only $1.80 can save a newborn by giving the mother a MNT vaccine? Stop by the Key club booth and drop your change during all lunches. We have free candy for your generour heart. Today, Key Club Karaoke Night will start at 5pm-7pm in the Cy Wood's auditorium. $1 to vote for your friends will be Friday during Karaoke. So bring as many friends as you can. We cannot wait to see you there. All money will be donated to the Eliminate Project.

Boys Golf Tryouts

If you are interested in trying out for the boys golf team, you need to contact Coach Neill by December 4th about tryout information. You will need to have the athletic physical and packet on file with the athletic trainers in order to tryout. Tryouts will be held December 8t & 9th at Cypress Golf Course.

Burger King Scholars Program is offering up to $50,000 in scholarships to a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The deadline to apply is December 15th. Do you know that in 21 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby every eleven minutes. Key Club organizes the Karaoke Night to support those newborns to get vaccines. You can vote for a teacher to sing on the stage by donating $2.00, or donate a dollar to vote for one of your friends to sing. You can also volunteer to sing on the stage for free! Let others know how good you are. Please come and join the Key Club Karaoke Night, this Friday, December 4th, in the auditorium. Food and drinks will be provided. Voting for teachers will start on Tuesday through Thursday during all lunches, and voting for friends will be on Friday during the activity.

The University of St. Thomas will be here today during all lunches. Stop by their table to meet the admissions counselor and to learn about all of the amazing academic, scholarship, and extracurricular opportunities available there. Attention Seniors, if you have committed to Baylor University, then you should apply for the Carr P. Scholars Progeam. Applications are available in the registrar office. The Italian Cultural & Community Center will award several $1,000 RENEWABLE scholarships to graduating high schools seniors who are of Italian descent. Boys Soccer Tryouts

Boys' soccer tryouts will be November 30, the Monday we get back from Thanksgiving break, on the practice fields behind the tennis courts. The Cypress Historical Society will award (2) CFISD graduating seniors $1,000 each to students interested in History, Social Sciences, Library Science, or Education. Howard University will be here today during all lunches. Howard offers programs in medicine, communications and journalism for all students regardless of race, gender, or religion. Meet their admissions counselor during your designated lunch period to hear about scholarships, financial aid, and admissions requirements to Howard University. The University of St. Thomas will be here Monday, November 16, during all lunches. Stop by to visit with the admissions counselor to learn about all of the opportunities available to you at St. Thomas. Seniors, are you planning a career in education? The Frontier Fiesta Scholarship is available for graduating seniors who will be attending The University of Houston. All Crimson Cadette hopeful candidates must attend a parent meeting on November 16th at 6pm and tryout packets are due to Mrs. Gregor in the dance room by November 17.

AFJROTC Celebrate Veterans Day/ Week

Cy Woods will celebrate Veterans Day/Week beginning today. So many men and women have sacrificed their lives to ensure our ability to live in such a wonderful country. You can celebrate the lives of some of the men and women who served our country from World War One until Present date, by visiting our "Wall of Heroes", located in the main lobby. We will also highlight each branch of the service. This week beginning with the Army.

Attention Wildcats! The CFISD Guidance & Counseling Department will host Military Academy Night on Tuesday, November 17th, at the Berry Center. Tickets for this event are available in the counselor office. Seniors! The Cy-Fair Community Credit Union Scholarship, the Cy-Fair Women’s Club Scholarship, and the Cypress Woodlands Junior Forum scholarships, are in full-swing. Don’t miss out on these opportunities which are ONLY available to seniors in CFISD. The Children’s Defense Fund “Beat the Odds Scholarship” is available for students who have experience and overcome adversity. The amount of this award is $5,000. The Princeton Prize in Race Relations scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the cause of positive race relations. This award is $1,000 and is due in late December.

The GE-Reagan Foundation will award up to $40,000 in renewable scholarships to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate exemplary leadership, integrity, and outstanding citizenship. The criteria for this $1,000 award is community service, academic achievement and financial need. The Ron Brown Foundation is offering a $40,000 scholarship to graduating African-American high school seniors who exhibit academic excellence, leadership, and community service. Seniors, you’ve completed your college application now, it’s time to find money to help pay for it. Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana will waive their out-of-state fee for incoming freshman who meet certain criteria. The Sophomore of the Year Scholarship application is due today! Please turn in your completed application to Mrs. Graves by 2:30p. The Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Scholarship is available to ALL graduating senior female students. The award amount is $1,000.
