Baseball Tryouts

Baseball tryouts will be January 27th and January 28th. If you are planning on trying out for the baseball team, you need to stop by coach Pidgeon's classroom, room 2318, and pick up a tryout packet to be filled out and turned in by January 26th at the latest. Once again, that is Coach Pidgeon's class room, room 2318.
Seniors, have you submitted your application for the Cy-Fair Education Foundation Scholarship? This organization has more than $330,000 available in scholarships for graduates of Cy-Fair ISD. There are two-parts to this application, and both must be completed by the due date. Seniors, do not miss out on this amazing opportunity! The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo scholarship application is available. Log onto their website to complete part-one of the application. Supporting documents must be submitted prior to the due date. Over $2,000,000 is available for graduating seniors from Houston area schools. Seniors, if you have been offered scholarships from a university or private organization, please let us now! the "Scholarship Notification Form" is available at the Registrar office. Golf Tryouts

Scholarship News

The December Scholarship Bulletin is ready! Take advantage of the opportunity to earn additional money to help pay for college. Create a timeline to avoid missing key deadlines. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship application is open. 750 Awards are available to graduating high school seniors. Participation in "AG" is not a requirement. Awards range from $2,500 to $20,000. The Haroldson foundation Scholarship is for graduating seniors who are in the top 10% and will be attending The University of Texas at Austin. The amount of this award is $8,400 and is due by December 7th. The Carolyn Gaines Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who are African American. The deadline to apply for this $1,000 award is December 2nd. Please see Mrs. GRaves for complete details on these and other scholarship opportunities!

Crimson Cadettes Tryouts

If you are interested in trying out for the Crimson Cadettes, today is the last day you can pick up a packet in the dance room. Tonight at 6:30, there will be a parent meeting in the commons and all tryout paperwork for hopeful candidates is also due today to Mrs. Gregory.

Soccer Tryouts

Soccer Tryouts will be the Monday we get back from Thanksgiving break, November 28th, at 3:00 on the practice fields behind the tennis courts. Bring your soccer shoes and running shoes for the tryout. All physical and athletic paperwork must be on file in the trainer's room to tryout. Any questions, see coach Day.

Scholarships •Seniors, if you are applying to a college which has a December 1st application deadline, please submit your transcript request this week to ensure that it is received on time! •The Hot Sauce Depot Scholarship for $500 and, the $25,000 Science & Math Department of Defense Scholarship are due this week. Seniors, don’t forget to request your transcript for these and other scholarships that require them. Your application is not complete until all required documents are received. •The Tom Joyner Foundation will award a full-ride scholarship to graduating high school senior who will be attending a Historically Black College or University. •The Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow Scholarship is for graduating “male” seniors who bowl. Veteran's Week

UNITED STATES ARMY- Today marks the start of veterans' week. Each day, cadets of the AFJROTC will recognize each branch of the United States military beginning with the oldest, the United States Army. For all Army veterans, regardless of their service and era in which they have served, they have paid the price time and time again.... They have defended America through both the best and worst of times...and they performed their duties tirelessly, with little recognition or fanfare. Thank You!

ASPIRE is part of the ACT testing program and is being given free of charge at Cy Woods. Visit the Cy Woods website for information regarding snacks and calculators for the ASPIRE test. Helping Africa Today

Helping Africa Today, is doing a school supply drive for schools in Africa. The supplies can be new or gently used and placed in one of the boxes posted around the school. The drive will end November 11th. Thank you for supporting Helping Africa today.

"A Cappella" is Italian for "in the manner of the chapel" and refers to group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment. If you are interested in this form of musical expression, the "A Capella Club" is meeting this Thursday, in room 1664 at 2:45. Come join us and make a beautiful noise.

Teen Tobacco and alcohol users are at least twice as likely as non-users to have poor grades. Even more alarming: Teen marijuana users are about twice as likely as non-users to drop out of high school. Show your ability to be drug and alcohol free and to not get Tied Down by Drugs. College and Career •Seniors, if you are planning to attend Texas A&M – College Station, The University of North Texas or UT Austin, then you should apply for The Student Housing scholarship. This award covers the cost of “off-campus” housing for an entire year! Applications are available in the Registrar Office. •Admission Counselor from Seton Hall University will be here today. This university uses a “holistic review process” to determine who will be admitted to their school. In other words, admission is NOT limited to just the Top 10%. •Senior girls! The Cypress- Woodlands Junior Forum Scholarship is now available. The primary criteria is “Community Service”, but academics and financial need are also considered. Are you bummed because you won't be old enough to vote for this year's presidential election? Well, we have the answer for you! We will be having a Mock Election to vote for president and U.S. Representative. Hey Wildcats! Do you play an instrument, sing, dance, rap, do slam poetry, or have a talent that you want to show off? Auditions are this coming Wednesday, September 7th, at 5:30pm in the auditorium; the cast-rehearsals are next Thursday, September 8th from 2:45pm to 5:30p in the auditorium; and the performance will be next Thursday, September 8th, at 7pm in the auditorium. The Visual Arts Department will host its 2nd annual Student Art Auction on Friday, May 20th, from 7pm-9pm. There will be approximately 500 works of art for sale with minimum bids starting as low as $5! Concessions will be available for all bidders. Bidders must be present at the end of the auction to win. It will be a cash only event. Come check out and buy some amazing student art to help promote the growth of our young Wildcat Artists! Friday May 20th! Mark your calendars!

Scholarships •The Edwin G. Schroeder Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who will be attending Lone Star College in the fall. This $1,500 award will cover most of your first year of your tuition, and the deadline to apply is Thursday, May 12th. •Seniors, the deadline to submit your scholarship information is Wednesday, May 11th. Hollywood @ the Woods Talent Showcase

H.E.A.T.

H.E.A.T. will be hosting a volleyball tournament, Saturday, May 15th, at the Coles Crossing Rec Center. The tournament will raise money for a primate sanctuary in San Antonio. If you plan to be the team captain for your team, please attend the H,.E.A.T. meeting next Thursday, in the teaching theatre after school with names of your team.

Scholarships •Seniors, are you attending Lone Star College in the fall? The Cy-Fair Education Foundation is offering a $1,500 scholarship to graduating seniors of C.F.I.S.D. Award can be used at any LSC campus. The deadline to submit your application and supporting documents is May 12th. •The Horatio Alger Technical Foundation will award (512) $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are planning to study computer science or other related field. The deadline to apply is June 1st. •The Chevron Corporation Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who plan to major in STEM.
