Mr. Cy Woods

There are 21 contestants vying to be Mr. Cy Woods.  Beginning January12 and going through January 22, you will be able to vote for Mr. Cy Woods contestants in each  category. Place your votes during lunch at the table by the VIPS room- 50 cents per vote or 3 votes for $1.  There is no limit on how many times you can vote.

And remember, tickets for Mr. Cy Woods go on sale January 12. buy your tickets at that table too!  Reserved seats are $25. and general admission is $15.

Deadline To Make Up First Semester Final Exams

Students, if you missed any first semester final exams, please make arrangements with your teachers ASAP.  The deadline to make up exams is this Friday.

Teens for Jeans

Cy-Woods is now participating in Aeropostale's Teens for Jeans. Donate your gently worn jeans in the big box at all lunches or in room 2216 from now until February 10th.

Scholarship News

Senior Wildcats! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship application deadline is February 9th.  Each year, this organization awards more that $1,000,000 in scholarships. Don't let this one pass you by!!  More information is available in the Registrar's Office.

The "Shout it Out" Scholarship application deadline is January 15th. The award amount is $1,500 and requires a brief essay of 250 words or less.  More information is available at the Registrar's Office.

"The Princeton Prize in Race Relations Scholarship" application deadline is January 31st. This award is open to "ALL" high school students.  Winners are invited to attend an expense-paid weekend symposium at Princeton University.

Seniors majoring in Engineering! The SAE Engineering Scholarship deadline is January 15th! Transcript request must be submitted by 2:30p, tomorrow.

Applications for Merit Scholarships to University of Houston Downtown Scholars Academy are available online. Early decision deadline is Feb. 1st.

The Gates Millennium Scholarship deadline is Wednesday, January 14th. This is a "full-tuition" scholarship opportunity for students who show academic achievement and financial need. Don't let this one pass you by!!!

Scholarship News

The United States Military Academy is having an information meeting on Sunday, December 21st. Parents and students of all grade levels, are invited to attend and take part in the discussion about West Point Admissions and how to compete for an appointment to West Point.

The National Eagle Scout Association Scholarship deadline is Dec. 31st. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000-$50,000.

Seniors and Juniors, if you are applyilng for scholarships that are due over winter break, your transcript request must be submitted by Wednesday, Dec. 17th.

·         The United States Military Academy is an Information Meeting on Sunday, Dec. 21st at St. John’s School (Virginia Stullar Tatham Fine Arts Center- Brown Campus). Students and parents of all grade levels are encouraged to attend. You will have an opportunity to meet local West Point Admissions Field Force, Cadets, and learn how to navigate the West Point Admissions process and compete for an Appointment to West Point. RSVP is required to attend this event.


·        Duke University is accepting applications for its 2015 Summer College for High School Students (grades 10 &11) as well as their Summer Academy for High School Students (grades 9-12). Students are encouraged to apply early as spaces fill quickly!

·       Cy-Fair Women’s Club Scholarship is open to seniors who reside in Cypress Fairbanks ISD boundaries and are graduating from any CFISD high school and plan to attend, on a full-time basis, an accredited two or four-year College, university or technical school.  Application are available in the Registrar’s Office.  All applications must be postmarked no later than January 30, 2015. 

Seniors, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration has college-funding available for any veteran dependent.  Why not take advantage of money that could cover your entire tuition.  Stop by the Registrar’s Office for more information.

Boys Soccer Tryouts

Crimson Cadettes Drill Team Tryouts

If you are interested in trying out to be a member of the Crimson Cadettes drill team, tryout packets are now available in the dance room, room 1990. You can go by the dance room  and grab a packet and also sign up to tryout.  The tryout process will begin the week of December 9th. All Crimson Cadette hopeful candidates must attend a parent meeting on November 18th at 6pm and tryout packets are due to Mrs. Gregory in the dance room by November 21st.

Transcript Request Deadline for Texas A&M and UT Austin
If you are applying to Texas A&M College Station, University of Texas at Austin or any school with a  December 1st application deadline, please turn in your transcript request to the registrar's office by November 19th. Requests received after November 19th may not be sent in time due to the Thanksgiving break!

Veterans Day Celebration

Coast Guard:  The Coast Guard was formed from the merger of the Revenue Cutter Service and the U.S Life-Saving Service on January 28th 1915, as an organization under the U.S Department of the Treasury.  The Coast Guard has been involved in every war from 1790 up to the Iraq war and is even involved in Afghanistan. Girls Golf Tryouts

Girl's golf tryouts will be held December 9th at Cypress Lakes Golf Course. Please sign up for tryouts in athletics with Coach Ahlfinger, room 1105.

Crimson Cadettes Drill Team Tryouts

If you are interested in trying out to be a member of the Crimson Cadettes Drill Team, tryout packets are now available in the dance room, room 1990. You can go by the dance room all this week and grab a packet and also sign up to tryout. The tryout process will begin the week of December 9th. All Crimson Cadette hopeful candidates must attend a parent meeting on November 18th at 6pm and tryout packets are due to Mrs. Gregory in the dance room by November 21st.

Military Academy Night is at 7:00pm on November 18th at the Berry Center.  All middle and high school students and parents interested in attending any of the nation's service academies, are invited to attend.  Representatives will present information and answer your questions on the application process, admission requirements and much more.

Attention Juniors!  The Linda Lorelle Online Scholarship Application is available 2014-2015 school year. Don't msis out on this amazing opportunity! Amount of Award varies, but is sizeable enough to cover a major part of tuition cost and books at state colleges and universities. The application deadline is February 27, 2015.

Seniors..you MUST check out the Hamman Foundation Scholarship!  This organization will offer (70) $16,000 scholarships to students who show academic achievement and financial need. Applications must be submitted by 4:00pm on February 20th. Don't let this one pass you by!

Stephen F. Austin is having their "Showcase Saturday Open House" on November 15th. Students will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from academic departments, enjoy a campus tour, visit housing facitities, and learn about financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Trinity University is having their Houston Interview Weekend November 15-16th. This is a great opportunity for students to distinguish themselves in Trinity's applicant pool and gain further insight into the many academic and co-curricular options available.

Veterans Day Celebration

Marines:  The Continental Marines were formed on November 10th 1775., in Philadelphia as an infantry force capable of fighting both at sea and on shore. The Marine Corps has distinguished itself by serving in the majority of American wars, from its inception to the modern era. By the mid-20th century, the Marine corps had become the dominant practitioner of amphibious warfare. Veteran's Day/Week AFJROTC Announcement

Cy Woods will celebrate Veteran's Day/Week, beginning Monday.

We will kickoff the week with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Paracuting Team. They will touch down in our very own football stadium Monday morning.

Be sure to view our wall of Heroes.  So many of our family and friends have served our country beginning from World War 1 until present day.

The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes students who are helping improve race relations in their schools or communities.  The application deadline for this prestigious award is January 31st. 

If you have interest in The University of Virginia, then you must check out The Jefferson Scholars Foundation.  This award is a merit-based, full-funded scholarship to the University of Virginia worth $240,000 for non-residents.

Wednesday October 29  Deaths from medication abuse now outnumber deaths from traffic accidents
                                         for young adults in the U.S.  "Flood out Drugs"  Wear rain gear-raincoat,
                                         rain boots, floaties, etc.

Thursday October 30     Individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 are involved in more than one-
                                         third of all alcohol related traffic accidents.  "Keep your future on the right
                                         path"  Career Day.  Dress up to represent a career choice.

                                        to become addicted to alcohol later on, unlike those kids who waited until

Cy-Woods AFJROTC has planned various events during the week of 10-14 November 2014. College Night at the Berry Center

Attention Juniors and Seniors:
Cy Fair ISD is hosting the 20th Annual College Night  tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Center. There is no charge but students will need a ticket to get in. Parents are also welcome to attend.  Ask your English teacher for a ticket if you have not received one already.
