College Fair

Don't forget.. the College Fair is tomorrow night at the Berry Center.

Tomorrow, on Wednesday, we will have Iowa State here during lunches, as well as the National Guard.

This Thursday the 2nd, Texas Lutheran University will be visiting us during lunches.

The Admissions Offices of Dartmouth College, Northwestern, Princeton, The University of California-Berkeley, and Vanderbilt will be at the Crown Plaza Medical Center this Thursday, October 2nd.

For high school juniors...check out Camp Enterprise!.. an intensive 3-day program where students are introduced to the challenges and opportunities of the free enterprise system. Applications are due November 1st. Students selected will be able to attend at NO COST!

The Hispanic Business Association at the University of Texas at Austin is hosting its annual College 101 event on Friday, October 31st. The purpose is to educate and excite students about the possibility of obtaining a college degree.

College Night at the Berry Center

Attention Juniors and Seniors - Cy Fair ISD will host the 20th Annual College Night Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Center.  There is no charge but students will need a ticket to get in. The "Coast to Coast College Tour" is coming to Houston onThursday October 2nd. The universities included area:  Dartmouth, Northwestern, Princeton, UC-Berkeley and Vanderbilt.

The University of Utah will be here today during all lunches.

On Monday, Carnegie Mellon will be here during lunches. Also on Monday, Lone Star College Cy Fair will be here.

Case Western Reserve University, from Cleveland, OH will be here today during lunches.

Savannah College of Art and Design will be in Houston for an information session on October 25th.

If considering Texas State University, they offer the Terry Foundation Scholarsips, which are full scholarships awarded to incoming freshman who have excelled in academics, leadership and character.

Junior and Senior women Scholarships

For junior and senior women, you can attend the Young Women Energized Program to be held October 22nd at the University of St Thomas.  Admission is FREE and dinner is included! The event is for our next generation of women leaders in the energy industry.  And during the event, scholarships are awarded to five graduating senior girls with an exemplary academic record and demonstrated leadersip skills.

Boston University will be in Houston October 5th for an information session for high school juniors and seniors.

The University of Arkansas will be here during  all lunches on Wednesday October 8th.

The University of Pennsylvania will be in Houston on Thursday October 16th for an interactive discussion about the opportunities at Penn.

September 19th  is the deadline to apply for the Texas Tech Engineering bus trip to the university. It's an all-expenses paid bus trip for high school students interested in pursuing a degree in engineering.

College WeekLive.com is holding a live chat with current students and college reps from 150 plus colleges for firsthand advice on test prep and college choice. The event is September 18th.

Rice University is having an information session on September 21st for Houston-area students and families.

Iowa State University will be here during all lunches on October 1st.

Duke University will be in Houston at Doubletree Greenway on Octobver7th for an information session.

Lone Star College CyFair at Cy-Woods

Lone Star College CyFair will be here every Tuesday from 8am-2pm beginning September 23rd. You can complete a request form from the counselor's office to visit with her.

If you're interested in pursuing engineering at Texas Tech, they are hosting an all-expenses paid bus trip to provide students with the experience to learn more about engineering at the university. The deadline to apply is September 19th.

Speech

This past weekend the Wildcat Speech Team took fifth place overall sweepstakes at the Hendrickson tournament in Austin, Tx. Special recognition goes out to Sal Sandoval and Bryia Hamblin for finishing third in Public Forum debate--they were also fourth and fifth place speakers respectively.  Additionally, Natasha Stewart was named 3rd place speaker in LD debate and finished fifth overall. Finally, Dee Bardwell and Sean O'Leary were the fifth place team in Public Forum Debate. Conner Fiedler was ninth in LD debate. Congrats to all and best of luck this weekend in Dallas at the Grapevine tournament. Debate team meeting today after school in 2702!

Cougar Preview Day at University of Houston

The University of Houston is having a Cougar Preview Day-the largest open house held twice each year- Staurday, September 20th!

Seniors..take advantage of the Comcast Leaders & Achievers Scholorship program. You must demonstrate leadersip abilities, plan on attending college next Fall and show a commitment to community service.
..Also, there is the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Again, for seniors who are recognizad for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a positive impact on their school and communities.

Our Wildcat varsity tennis team DOMINATED Atascocita Wednesday in a win of 15 to 4!  Ben Snowden and Matt Faga, Nick Fordney and AJ Brown, Nich Rhodes and Daniel Ferree, Cameron Chung and Ashley Kawakubo, and Katie Chen and Gab Welch all won their doubles' matches!  AJ, Ben, Matt, CJ, Nick Fordney, Zach Wright, Maddie Feik, Katie, Gab and Ashley all won their singles matches!  Way to go Wildcats! Way to win our first match!  We are so proud of you!

Speech and Debate

The Wildcat Speech and Debate continue the winning ways of the Woods with another top five finish at the Black and Gold Swing Tournament this past weekend.  Please congratulate seniors Sal Sandoval and Byria Hamblin for their outstanding performance and third place finish in Public Forum debate.  Good luck to the team as they head out to Austin this weekend.  Join the team-come to today's first team meeting after school in room 2702.
